Bi-Staters Coffee Talk
Sharon Cordrey
Congratulations to Deena Kenney who recently graduated from Wesley
College with a BA in psychology and was also on the dean’s list. She
plans to work toward her master’s degree in the fall. Her proud
parents are Jerita and Dale Kenney.
Get-well wishes to Eleanor Paradee, Shirley Porter and Laura
Brittingham for speedy recoveries. We send our deepest sympathy to
the family and friends of Lorraine (Lorrie) Thomas.
Carol and Jim Elliott of Fenwick Island and Bill Elliott of
Florence, S.C., accompanied their mother, Betty Delano Elliott, to
the Delano Kindred reunion in Mystic, Conn. Approximately 80 people
from all over the United States attended this two-day affair. The
reunion next year will be held at Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pat Elliott from Florence, S.C., enjoyed spending several days with
her parents, Mary Jane and Les Baker.
A children’s program will be held at the Delmar Library Thursday,
July 15, 6:30 p.m. with guest, Michael Foresteri.
Bunky and Pat Naugle, along with Peggy and Wayne Moore, traveled to
Germany and Austria for a concert tour with the Chesapeake Chorale,
which consists of 44 singers. The group arrived at the Frankfurt
airport, then traveled to Rothenburg for their first concert. Next,
they traveled to Augsburg, then on to Munich, where they sang at St.
Michael’s Cathedral. In Sussen, they toured the Ludwig Castle and,
in Salzburg, Austria, visited the home where Mozart was born. They
then traveled to Vienna, where the group sang at St. Stephan
Cathedral and had the opportunity to attend a Mozart concert. It was
back to Germany for an elegant gourmet dinner in Scloss Suschl, in
the foothills of the Alps. The last stop was in Heidelberg before
returning to Frankfurt to board their plane bound for home.
According to Pat, the group had a wonderful time and the scenery was
beautiful. Dr. Douglas Smith of Salisbury, director of Chesapeake
Chorale, did a great job of planning the 12-day trip.

Morris, July 4; Annelle Ripple, July 5; Leona Adkins, Tracy Causey
Baker, George Campbell and Brenda Carlisle, July 6; Ted Warren, July

Coffee house starts reading group
Strange Brews Coffee and Tea House, Delmar, is hosting a “read to
me” program for children. The program is a way to introduce younger
children to the pastime of reading and encourage them to develop an
awareness of books that will last them into their adult lives, said
CEO Joseph Parish. The next session is scheduled for July 21, 2
p.m., at the coffee house, 18B N. Pennsylvania Ave. “We like to give
back something to a community that supports us,” said Parish.
Strange Brews supports several community related activities, among
them the Delmar Elementary School PTA and the Miss Delmar/Delaware
contestants. Strange Brews features live entertainment and serves a
variety of coffees. Information is available by e-mail at info@strangebrews.com
